1981 - 3012.PDF
The first production heli copter flew on September 14,1939, piloted by its in ventor, Igor Sikorsky. Since that time, Sikorsky people have designed and built commercial and military helicopters for 42 countries worldwide and for every branch of the United States Armed Forces. They've cre ated new technologies and developed new manufac turing techniques to imple ment them. In the areas of flight stability and control, avionics and propulsion integration, and aero- structures, Sikorsky has maintained a tradition of leadership. In 1975, the company again made history. Sikorsky Aircraft in troduced the first helicopter designed and built specifi cally and totally for the commercial market. The Sikorsky S-76. Engineered for performance Engineered to the most ex acting standards, the S-76 is certified and operating in 23 countries. It's designed to fiy the toughest helicopter mis sions with routine, precise performance. A fully IFR, over- water equipped S-76 can cruise at 167 mph carrying 10 passengers (200 lbs. each) over 300 miles, with 45 minutes reserve fuel. Effort lessly, quietly, with crew and passengers enjoying excep tional comfort and visibility. When the agility to land in a 65 mph crosswind is needed, the S-76 has it. When you need extra power, it's there. The S-76 cockpit display is human-engineered for quick monitoring of all systems, day and night. And the new Sikorsky Automatic Flight Control System reduces pilot workload and enhances pas senger comfort. Even in ex tended turbulent conditions. The "pilot's aircraft" earns its title time after time, what ever the situation or mission. Range: 702 miles (with auxiliary tank) Speed: 180 mph Useful load: 4,700 lbs. Cabin size: 12 passengers AHEAD OF ITS CLASS
