Hang Khong Vietnam, previously known as the General Civil Aviation Adminis tration of Vietnam—CAAV, is the state airline of Vietnam. Scheduled passenger services are operated from Gialem Air port, Hanoi, to Ho Chi Minh City (for merly Saigon), Vientiane and Bangkok. Authority has been received to operate services to Rangoon, Calcutta, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore (the latter from Ho Chi Minh City) but no starting date has been published. Air Vietnam (the former South Vietnamese airline) is believed to be still operating internal services to Da Nang and Phu Quoc Island. Future plans of HKV are re ported to include a service to Paris in return for Air France traffic rights to Ho Chi Minh City.
