m \ Commuter airliner guide f*j*ww»%» / ifeltWIfjf^- ^^»^»i Cessna Titan also available as an option on the Courier. There are basic and fully equipped versions of both variants, and the price is around $420,000-$440,000. Cessna has declined to provide sufficient recent technical information to prepare de tailed tables For this survey. But soil was broken last year for a factory next to Youngstown, Ohio, Municipal Airport. Design work is pro gressing at CAC's San Diego engineer ing and sales offices, directed by Ladis- lao Pazmany, who has a background with General Dynamics/Convair and Teledyne Ryan Aeronautical; and CAC's CAC-100 president is Kornel Fehrer, previously a Boeing senior design structural engin eer and a special adviser to Nasa. The CAC-100 is a four-turboprop 50-60 seater which should first fly in early 1984 and start to earn money in mid- 1985. Powerplants will be 1,200 s.h.p. Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6A-65Rs; wings will be Nasa-designed aft-loaded sections that will not require leading edge devices, and will fly fast efficiently. The plan is that the aeroplane will cruise 30kt-70kt faster than its com petitors, and maintain a sea-level cabin up to 15,000ft by virtue of its 6-5 p.s.i. pressure differential capability. This is the only US contender for a big home market held by foreigners, and as such it could do quite well. Finance for the project comes from many sources, but certainly some of it is backed by loan guarantees from the State of Ohio and from the Economic Development Administration of the US Deparment of Commerce. 12,000- g 80OO- .2 6000- s 4000- 2000- -^.
