INTERNATIONAL PRIVATE-AIRCRAFT DIRECTORY SINGLE SEAT, SINGLE-ENGINE Pitts S-1S This section comprises some of the top aerobatic competition aircraft. Mudry's Cap 21 has been developed from the Cap 10 two-seater and features an additional gravity fuel tank for inverted operations. Most popular among aerobatic machines remains the Pitts Dipiane, of which tnere are now several versions. Christen industries has bought Pitts Aerobatics, but the company continues to trade as before. Current models (see also "Single-engine up to 200 h.p." sec tion) are S-1T, S-2A, and S-25. The S-1S with 180 h.p. engine and fixed- pitch propeller is still available at $43,350. An S-2B has been developed and certification is expected shortly. Mudry Cap 10B Largest part of the directory is this sec tion covering the two-seat trainers and the lighter four-seat tourers. The mar ket for trainers includes the estab lished Cessna 152 and Piper Tomahawk, as well as the Robin Dauphin. There are no new types in this sec tion. Beech Skipper production has not resumed, but examples remain avail able. We have introduced the 180 h.p. Varga Kachina 2180A in its own right this year, following previous reference as an alternative to the 2150A; tail- wheel variants are available with slightly better performance. Also new is Cessna's Cutlass and Robin R.3120 and R.3140E. Taylorcraft's F-21A is a long-range machine with bigger tanks (33gal) and consequent longer range; price is also higher at $24,250. Fuji PA-200 and Gulfstream American Cheetah and Tiger are omitted this year. Inclusion last year reflected the types' availability, but these are few and far between now — if indeed any are to be found. Others to have dropped from this listing are Thorp T-211, Omnipol Zlin Z42M, and Robin R.1180 Aiglon II. The Mooney manufacturer's range makes no allowance for fuel reserve and should be regarded as absolute maximum. The Interstate Arc tic Tern has a 1,9001b gross weight for commercial operations in Alaska. Lake's amphibian Buccaneer models have optional turbocharging to provide higher performance, but at higher price. EPR designation identifies reversible pitch propeller option. The Piper Cub, now back in production at Piper, is marketed by WTA (Lubbock International Airport, Texas).
