Major design work is complete and all principle components are being manu factured for the first proto type engine, due to run for the first time next August. The programme is currently three weeks ahead of schedule. Ordered so far by Gulf- stream, for the Gulfstream IV, the 13,5001b thrust Tay is also on line to power Fokker's Project P.332, the 100-seat rear-engined successor to the F.28. A go-ahead is expected before the end of the year. Rolls-Royce is still hopeful that the Tay will find work re- engining BAe One-Elevens, and on new aircraft built in Romania.
