WORLD AIRLINE DIRECTORY Aerolineas Nacionales del Ecuador (ANDES Airlines) was formed in 1961. Scheduled cargo services began in October 1966 and now link Guayaquil and Quito with Miami, Panama City and Cuenca. Worldwide charters are also under taken. Aero—Lloyd Flugreisen was formed on December 5, 1979, to operate passenger charter flights from Frankfurt Airport to points in the Mediterranean and the Canary Islands. Major shareholders are Deutsche Luftfahrt-Leasing and Air Charter Market. Oper ations began in March 1981, with an initial fleet of Caravelles. In addition to Frankfurt, inclusive tour charter services are also operated from Munich and Dtisseldorf. Aeromar Airlines was formed in 1962 to provide scheduled cargo services, which currently operate between Santo Domingo (Dominican Republic) and points in the USA including Miami and New York (JFK). Aero maritime (Compagnie Aeromaritime d*Affretement) is a subsidiary of UTA formed in 1966 to operate passenger and cargo charter flights. Operations began early in 1967 using aircraft leased from UTA. Aeromaritime also holds the contract to operate Super Guppies owned by the European Airbus consortium. The aircraft, which entered service in January 1971, are used to transfer major Airbus components between factories in the manu facturing group. Aeromexico, known until February 1972 as Aero- naves de Mexico, was established on September 14, 1934, and began operating between Mexico City and Acapulco in September of that year. Since 1952 several smaller Mexican airlines have been taken over, including Lamsa, Aerovias Reforma, Aerolineas Mexicanas SA and Guest Aerovias. In 1959 Aero- naves was nationalised and the Pan American hold ing passed to the Mexican Government. In 1970, under a Government plan, Mexican domestic airlines were rationalised into an integrated air-transport system under the control of Aeronaves de Mexico and organised into eight smaller carriers. International passengers and cargo services link Mexico City with Panama City. Caracas, Bogota, Los Angeles, Tucson, Houston, Miami, New York, Toronto, Madrid, and Paris, together with a 35-point domestic network. Aeronaves del Peru was formed in 1965, but did not begin operating until 1971, when the airline was reorganised. Scheduled cargo services are operated between Lima and Miami via Iquitos, Bogota and Panama City and to Santa Cruz and Sao Paulo. Charters are also undertaken. Aeronica (Aerolineas Nicaraguenses) was formed in 1981 and operates scheduled passenger services linking Managua with Mexico City, Miami, Salvador, San Jose and Panama City, Aeronica is wholly owned by the Government of Nicaragua, Head Office: Contiguo Aeropuerto Internacional A. AeroPeru (Empresa de Transporte Aereo del Peru) was formed in May 1973 as the wholly Government-owned national carrier of Peru. The company is the result of a reorganisation of Satco, the airline element of the Peruvian Air Force. Satco began operations in 1960 when Transportes Aereos Militaries (founded in 1931 as Lineas Aereas Nacionales) was split into two segments—TANS to operate subsidised feeder services to points in the Selva region, and Satco to operate trunk routes. Domestic services by AeroPeru began in July 1973 and now link Lima with Tumbes, Tacna, Juliaca, Arequipa, Pto Maldonada, Cuzco, Aycucho, Huanuco, Tingo Maria, Moyobamba, Tarapoto, Juanjui, Pucallpa, Yurimaguas, Talara, Piura, Cajamarca, Chiclayo, Trujillo, and Iquitos. International services, begun in October 1973, operate south to La Paz, Santiago, Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo, and Buenos Aires, and north to Guayaquil, Bogota, Caracas, Mexico City, and Panama. Aerotal (Aerolineas Territoriales de Colombia), originally formed in 1970 and providing international scheduled services out of Bogota, reportedly ceased operation in 1984. Aero Trasporti Italian! (ATI) was formed in December 1963 as a subsidiary of Alitalia to operate domestic services previously flown by Societa Aerea Mediterranea (SAM).
