WORLD AIRLINE DIRECTORY Iranian Asseman Airlines is the company formed after the Islamic revolution as a result of the merger of Air Taxi Co (formed 1958), Pars Air (formed 1969), Air Service Co (formed 1962) and Hoor Asseman. In addition to operating an extensive high frequency domestic network, the carrier also undertakes domes tic and international charter services, and operates and maintains Falcon 20, F.27, and Turbo and Aero Commander aircraft on behalf of various customers. A fleet of six MD-82s is currently operated on Jet America's domestic services out of Long Beach and Oakland, California Japan Air Lines (JAL-Nihon Koku Kabushiki Kaisha) is the successor to the original privately owned company of the same name which began oper ating in August 1951. The new JAL came into being in October 1953 as the national airline of Japan with a Government holding of 50 per cent, since reduced to 37.7 per cent.
