Fleet: two DHC-7. I New York Air is a publicly-held national carrier with a controlling interest held by Texas Air Corporation. The carrier began scheduled passenger services on December 19, 1980, and now serves Boston, Washington D.C., New Orleans, Detroit, jjTampa/St. Petersburg, Orlando and Raleigh/ Durham from New York's La Guardia and Newark Airports. On order: two 737-200. Nihon Kinkyori Airways (NKK) was formed in March 1974 jointly by Japan Air Lines. All Nippon Airways, and Toa Domestic, to operate scheduled * passenger services between Tokyo, Oshima and Miyakejima, Sapporo, Hakodate, Nakashibetsu, Mombetsu and Wakkanai (on Hokkeido Island), Rishiri-to Island, Okushirishama Island and Sado Island. Nile Delta Air Services was formed in June 1976 to operate charter flights together with contract services for oil companies operating in Egypt. Fleet: one Fokker F.27-100. Nippon Cargo Air Lines (NAC-Nihon Kamotsu Koku) was formed in September 1978 to operate scheduled cargo services. Application for certification was filed in November 1978. Following approval by the Japanese CAB, services originally due to begin in April 1981 were suspended, pending the result of a civil aviation policy review. Final Government approval was given in August 1983, and services were due to commence on April 1 of this year initially between Tokyo, New York and San Francisco. Shareholders are All Nippon Airways, Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Mitsui OSK Lines, Nippon Yusen Kaisha, and Yamashita Shinnihon Steamship Co. International services began in 1975, and link Amsterdam with Bremen, Dusseldorf, Antwerp, Brussels, Birmingham, Belfast, Jersey, Guernsey, and Stuttgart; Rotterdam with Paris/Charles de Gaulle and London (Heathrow); Eindhoven with Hamburg, Paris (Charles de Gaulle), and London (Gatwick); and Maastricht with London (Gatwick). Norcanair, a Saskatchewan-based operator, was formed as Saskatchewan Government Airways (Saskair) in August 1947, and adopted its present title in March 1965. Norcanair provides scheduled passenger services linking Prince Albert with La Ronge, Stony Rapids, Wollaston Lake, Uranium City, Regina, and Saskatoon. Nordair was established in 1957 by the merger of Mont Laurier Aviation (founded in 1946) and Boreal Airways (formed 1947) which had been operating services from Quebec City to various points in south ern Quebec province. Nordair's network of scheduled passenger and cargo services has expanded to the three provinces of Quebec, Ontario, and Manitoba, as well as to the USA and Northwest Territories. Opera tions are divided into four segments, Northwest Quebec linking Montreal, Val d'Or, Chibougamau, La Grande, and Great Whale; Northern Quebec linking Montreal with Quebec, Fort Chimo, Asbestos Hill/Deception Bay, Frobisher Bay, Hall Beach, Nanisivik, and Resolute Bay; Sault Ste Marie, Thun der Bay, Dryden, and Winnipeg; and Southern link ing Montreal with Ottawa, Hamilton, Windsor, Toronto and Pittsburgh. Charter flights are also operated principally to Florida, the Caribbean area, the Antilles, and points in Mexico. Since 1972 Nordair has operated an ice reconnaissance contract for the Canadian Government, using two specially modified Electras. The airline also operates, under a USAF contract, resupply flights to 22 stations of the DEWline complex, ranging from Alaska to the eastern tip of Baffin Island, using FH-227s. Innocan and a group of Nordair's employees recently acquired the major shareholding in the airline from Air Canada (86-5 per cent).
