The air craft, the fourth unit to fly, will be on display at the Paris Air Show in June. IAI will continue their flight-test pro gramme on the first three pre- production aircraft. The flight-test programme is making good progress, according to IAI's US distrib utor Atlantic Aviation. Flights of up to three hours are being carried out with real-time computer graphics via 400-channel telemetry, for ground interpretation. Static fatigue tests have been completed, and Atlantic Aviation's chief test pilot has been impressed with the handling characteristics of the aircraft, which he reports as "light and crisp". The production aircraft will fly to the USA in mid-April to complete noise tests. It is hoped that some flight time records will be achieved en route, according to Atlan tic. Eagle activity increases LEAVESDEN Eagle Beechcraft has taken delivery of the first British Super King Air 300. The air craft, already sold to UK cus tomers, was delivered to Leavesden on April 1. Eagle Flying Services pulled out of the fixed-wing charter market last June, but has recently re activated its AOC and started helicopter operations on March 22 with Eagle Air. Its Jet Ranger 206B will be replaced by a 206B Mk3 with improved performance, according to Bob Moggridge, aviation manager for Eagle Aerotech. Eagle is also marketing the Sikorsky S-76 5/6-passenger helicopter in conjunction with Sikorsky which is providing a US-registered demonstrator, with crew. The aircraft has full IFR capability and will be fitted with Sperry AFCS and weather radar. Lawyers form flying association LONDON ~ Some 43 of the 67 members of Britain's new Lawyers Flying Association hold private pilot's licences and some own their own aircraft. A further 12 are student pilots, and there are several glider pilots plus a microlight aircraft owner among the member ship. Association objectives are twofold, writes Ann Welch: to encourage all elements of light aviation in all parts of Britain among those working professionally in law, and to provide the light-aviation community with a consul tative and advisory function that is not currently available. Details and information from Tim Scorer (1 Finsbury Avenue, London EC2M 2PJ; tel 01-377 9191). Mammouth workhorse unveiled The Piasecki Heli-Stat Demonstrator has been rolled out at Lakehurst Naval Air Station, New Jersey. Powered by four modified H-34 helicopters, the envelope has a 1,000,000ft3 capacity. The project is sponsored by the US Forest Service with the technical support of the US Navy. Static stress tests have involved payload dead weights up to 100,0001b. The aircraft, claimed to be the largest under test, will be used for timber harvesting. A future version, using four CH-54 Sky-Crane helicopters, for transporting the US Army Battle Tank, is being considered.
