10 years on from ^ Hawk's first service flight, we bet you can't name a trainer that has more to offer. And what's more, in another ten years' time we bet we'll still be able to make the same claim. Why? Simply because when British Aerospace accepted the brief to design the trainer that became Hawk, we knew we had to meet two demanding criteria. First, we had to produce a trainer that would take pilots from their first jet flight to a previously unheard of level of combat proficiency. And second, we knew we had to design into that aircraft the development potential to allow it to continue to fulfil that role well into the 21st century. Both of which aims we achieved in developing Hawk, which is why nearly 700 have now been ordered for service by no fewer than ten countries.
