AVU rum * ppon m NTB Civil Aviation Authority Airworthiness Surveyors The Civil Aviation Authority needs Airworthiness Surveyors in the following areas: Light Aircraft Design The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting CAA airworthiness functions in respect of a wide range of light aircraft. These include British and foreign manufactured light and microlight aeroplanes; gliders; airships and balloons. The work extends from the preparation of airworthiness Requirements through design investigations leading to UK type certification (where appropriate) and acceptance of foreign certifications, to the issue of Certificates of Airworthiness. There is also post certification work including approval of modifications and defect rectification. Applicants should have a degree or comparable qualification in an aeronautical, or a related, engineering discipline. Chartered Engineer status would be an advantage. Significant experienced related to light aircraft design generally, and preferably including practical experience in aircraft structures, is required. An appreciation and good knowledge of airworthiness Requirements applicable to light aircraft; a genuine interest in general aviation and some flying experience would be advantageous. The post is based initially at Redhill, Surrey but will be moving to Gatwick in April 1988. Ref. LAC. Maintenance Standards Duties include survey work on a wide range of aircraft and rotorcraft. These would include defect investigation, supervision of CAA Approved Organisations and examining candidates for CAA AME Licences. A good standard of technical education is necessary, preferably to HNC standard and with an aircraft engineering apprenticeship. Significant experience associated with the manufacture and/or maintenance of civil transport aircraft on the current British Register is essential. Candidates who can offer experience in maintenance planning, staff supervision, quality management and who hold an Aircraft Maintenance Engineers Licence would be at an advantage. Successful candidates will be required to undertake a programme of initial familiarisation at Redhill or Gatwick but could subsequently be required to work at other UK or overseas offices. Ref. MS.
