Fortis Financial Services has purchased a new Shorts 360-309 for lease to Philippine Airlines. Luxair has sold two Boeing 737-200s to Aviation Sales which is leasing them back to the Luxembourg national carrier. French regional airline, Brit Air has ordered three Saab 340 regional turboprops for its Brittany-based operation. Seat tested McDonnell Douglas has successfully conducted a zero- speed, zero-altitude test of its Minipac II lightweight ejection seat, intended for trainers, helicopters, and other low/ medium-speed aircraft. In the zero-zero test at Hurri cane Mesa, Utah, the seat with an instrumented dummy aboard was propelled from a stationary sled to parachute deployment at 160ft altitude. Two more tests are required to qualify the company-funded seat, one at 150kt and one at 350kt. The seat can be used at speeds from zero to 380kt, and altitudes from ground level to 50,000ft, says MDC. Minipac II is based on the company's Aces II ejection seat in the F-15, F-16, A-10, and B-l, but at 901b is about half the weight and half the price, says MDC. Australia certificates Citation III Australia has certificated Cessna's Citation III business jet following an intensive three- month evaluation of the aircraft. The first Citation III on the Australian register was flown to Sydney from Wichita by a Sydney-based fixed-base oper ator which will use the aircraft for charter on behalf of its owner. Three other Citation Ills have been delivered to Australia under US registry for use by private companies.
