Crew Briefing Systems Crew Briefing systems provide information to flight crews on Fuel and Route Planning (SWORD system), ground Meteorology (MET system) and NOTAMS (AIS system). British Airways offers a 24-hour Crew Briefing service to other airlines in a number of ways by providing: (i) a shared service with the customer operating the system through his own terminals. (ii) a full service with the information produced by British Airways for the customer on request. The service can be for SWORD, MET or AIS. Consultation We act as consultants on a wide range of interests such as, the process of pilot selection, the preparation of aerodrome performance information, logistics and operational control services. • Flight Guides and Charts The AERAD Flight Guide gives comprehensive coverage of world flight documentation and provides information on instrument approach and landing, ground movement control, taxying, parking ramps, noise abatement procedures and SID/STAR charts. The AERAD service includes separate supplements for Asia, Africa, Europe and the Western Hemisphere which contain tabulated information on navigational aids, communications, meteorological broadcasts, aerodrome data and other related information. • Flight and Cabin Crew Secondment British Airways is willing to consider requests for the secondment of either Flight Crews or Cabin Crews from other airlines. These crew members are all trained to a high degree of proficiency for which British Airways is justifiably proud. • Navigation Services British Airways offer route planning and navigational services upon request. Multiple route/ Flight level analysis is also offered which is made possible,, by our excellent computer facilities. Many operators have availed themselves of these specialised services. Robert Parker Flight Operational Business Manager British Airways PO Box 10 (S465) Heathrow Airport (London) Middlesex TW6 2JA United Kingdom Tel: 01-562 0636 Fax:01-562 0002 BRITISH AIRWAYS ORDERBOOK Bodrun Imsik Hava Yollari has ordered two Dornier 228s for its routes from Turkey to Greek Islands in addition to national routes. GPA has leased three Boeing 737-200 aircraft to Malev, the Hungarian flag-carrier. These aircraft, GPA claims, will be the first Western jet aircraft to enter service in an East European socialist country. The deal is subject to the approval of the US Government. Air Nova has ordered two BAe 146-200 aircraft in a deal worth about $40 million. Air Nova, which operates as Air Canada Connector for that carrier's Montreal and Ottowa hubs, will take delivery of the new aircraft, its first jets, in December 1988 and January 1989. Until that time it will operate two 146-100s leased from BAe. The airline has also taken options on a further two aircraft. Taiwan's China Airlines has ordered three Airbus A300- 600Rs for delivery in the last quarter of 1989. The order continues the airline's efforts to standardise its fleet on Airbus aircraft. The A300- 600Rs will have a two-class layout, and will be powered by Pratt & Whitney PW4000 engines. Indian Airlines will get four Boeing 737s on lease from Airbus Industrie by the first week of November, under an agreement signed by Airbus and lessor GPA. The 737s will ease the carrier's present capacity constraints, and help it meet tourist demand in the coming season. A new Spanish charter firm, Euskalair, is to lease three Boeing 737-400s from GPA for its airline arm, Nortjet. Delivery is due in January 1989. Euskalair is a joint venture between investors in the Basque region of North ern Spain and Air Charter International, an Air France subsidiary. Fortis Aviation has pur chased ALM's last DC-9-32 and resold the aircraft to British Midland Airlines. FLIGHT INTERNATIONAL, 8 October 1988
