_PRIVATE AIRCRAFT BUYERS' GUIDE Multiple-seat, single-engine—above 200 h.p. This class encompasses aircraft with from two to six seats, speeds from 100 m.p.h. to almost 230 m.p.h., and ranges of up to 1,000 miles. Debutantes are all at the high- performance end: Mooney announces the M.20M, a 270 h.p. four-seater coming above the 252TSE and PFM at $177,500; Piper has re-engined the cabin-class single Malibu, which becomes the 350 h.p. Mirage, with a price tag of almost $370,000; and French manufacturer Robin has added Porsche power to its range with the DR.400/180 for those with the odd million francs to invest in aerial transport. Beech continues to rely on the ubiquitous Bonanza. The F33A is essentially a V35 with a conventional tail unit. It remains popular, despite (or perhaps because of) its mature lines, the type having flown 30 years ago and known until 1967 as the Debonair. The A36 also owes much to the V35 and sports load ing doors on the starboard side. The Christen/Pitts Special S-2B provides a plat form for the training of aerobatic pilots. There are no deletions this year, but rationalisation of the Maule product line is expected. Multiple-seat, single-engine—above 200 h.p.
