Royal Nepal Airlines Corporation became the launch customer for the 757-200 Combi in February 1986. At present its operations include scheduled passenger and freight services linking Kathmandu with 37 domestic points, plus international routes to Frankfurt, Bangkok, Dacca, Dubai, Hong Kong, Delhi, Calcutta, Karachi, Singapore, and Rangoon. The carrier is wholly owned by the Government of Nepal. Royal Swazi National Airways Corporation is the wholly government-owned national airline of Swaziland. Sched uled passenger and cargo services are flown from Matsapa Airport, Manzini, to Johannesburg, Lusaka, Harare, Dar- Es-Salaam, Maputo, Maseru, and Nairobi. Ryanair, an independent Irish carrier, pioneered the introduction of low normal economy fares on scheduled flights between the UK and Eire. Services were first introduced in May 1986 between Luton and Dublin, and since then the company's scheduled service route network has grown rapidly. The following routes are operated: from Dublin to Luton, Cardiff, Liverpool, Brussels, Munich, and Knock (Eire); from Cork to Luton; from Waterford to Luton; from Knock to Birmingham, Luton, Gatwick, and Manchester; from Shannon to Luton; and from Galway to Luton. The company also operates an extensive network of charter routes from Dublin to European and Mediterranean destinations. History: The company was formed in 1986. Ryanair Europe, known as London European Airways until January 1988, is now concentrating on charter oper ations, after ending its scheduled passenger service to Brussels in January. History: The company was formed in 1984, and started operations in February 1985. Services were suspended a year later owing to financial difficulties. Sabena—Belgian World Airlines (Societe Anonyme Beige d'Exploitation de la Navigation Aerienne) nego tiated in 1987 with Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) on the possibility of combining the two carriers' transatlantic operations, as well as catering, hotel, and other interests. A merger, however, did not result. A number of joint- venture discussions have been held with various carriers since then. The Belgian Government owns 54 per cent of the equity in the airline, with banks and insurance companies being the other major shareholders. Sabena recently extended its African network by adding new services to Niamey (Niger), Lome (Togo), Cotonou (Benin), and Luanda (Angola). Routes: Sabena operates an extensive network of scheduled passenger and cargo services to points in Europe, the Middle and Far East, 26 destinations in Africa and to, Montreal, New York, Atlanta, Detroit, Chicago, Boston, Toronto, and Anchorage. History: Sabena was founded in 1923 as a successor to SNETA, and developed a European network followed by routes to and within the Belgian Congo (now Zaire).
