The simulator is Malaysia's second from Link-Miles and its third to feature the UK company's latest daylight, wide- angle visual system. A Boeing 747-400 simulator with Image IV/AWARDS will be ready for training in December this year. The same visuals are fitted to a Fokker 50 simulator on order from SD and scheduled to enter use for training at the airline's Subang flight training centre in October this year. The microprocessor-based 737 simulator will be able to train pilots for three variants of the Boeing aircraft, the -300, -400, and -500, says Malaysia, requiring only 45min to complete conversion between marques. Malaysia Airlines is to lease seven 737-400s from Inter national Lease Finance for delivery between January 1990 and July 1991. The airline is negotiating with Boeing to purchase 737-400s for delivery starting in 1992. Airlines using Malaysia's fleet of six simulators include Air China, Air Lanka, Air Nauru, China Airlines, Dragon Air, Garuda Indonesian Airways, Pakistan International, Philippine Airlines, Royal Brunei Airlines, and also Thai Airways. Link studies LHX CAE-Link is to design the operator training system for Boeing-Sikorsky's "First Team" LHX light scout/attack helicopter as part of the demonstration/validation phase of the US Army programme. The Link Flight Simulation division will design flight simulators, part-task trainers, and other equipment required for LHX aviator training, to participate in analysis and development of the total training system, and to assist in risk-reduction efforts on embedded training on board LHX.
