Scott, 30, collected three major awards from HRH Duke of York at an awards ceremony on 8 December^ They were for best portfolio of work (sponsored by Flight International); best public relations picture of the year; and third prize in the aircraft and equipment section. Tlx: 39200 AMERICA WEST AIRLINES America West Airlines has ap pointed Jerry Wisotsky, chair man of Imperial Litho/Graphics and prominent businessman in Phoenix, Arizona, to its board. The new director of economic analysis at America West is David Sylvester, who joins from Kidder, Peabody of New York, where he was vice-president, senior analyst—airlines. AVLEASE Avlease, of Atlanta, Georgia, has appointed David Howe as, senior vice-president (finance), chief fi nancial officer, treasurer and secretary. NORTHWEST AIRLINES Northwest Airlines executive vice-president for marketing A B "Sky" Magary, has assumed re sponsibility for the company's operations in Europe and Asia. He joined Northwest's predeces sor, Republic, from Pan Am in 1984. AVIATION SYSTEMS INTERNATIONAL Aircraft parts, equipment and supplies company Aviation Sys tems International of Fort Lau derdale, Florida, has appointed Seife Michael Yohannes as vice- president. Graham Howat QUALITAIR AVIATION Graham Howat is appointed group managing director of the Qualitair Aviation Group. He has been with Hong Kong Aircraft Engineering (HAECO) for 17 years, the last five as managing director. BRITISH AEROSPACE Frank Saundry has joined the board of British Aerospace as personnel director. Saundry has been personnel director of BAe's car-manufacturing subsidiary, Rover Group, since 1986 and has worked in the motor industry since 1963. Irene Dodgson has been appointed press relations manager at BAe's corporate head quarters in London. Trevor Jackson FFV AEROTECH The managing director of FFV Aerotech's new Manchester widebody heavy maintenance base is to be Trevor Jackson. He was formerly technical director at Orion Air, and marketing di rector at Fields/Metair East Midlands. GE AIRCRAFT ENGINES Michel Lagorce is the new presi dent and general manager of GE Technical Services in France, taking responsibility for all GE Aircraft Engines marketing and business interests in that coun try. Lagorce was previously assis tant secretary for civil aircraft programmes in the French De partment of Transportation. He replaces Maxime Claude-Lomas, who has held the post for the last 24 years. DELFT UNIVERSITY Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands has awarded an honorary doctorate of tech nology to Elbert (Burt) Rutan, the pioneer of canard-wing, com posite-construction light aircraft, and builder of the round-the- world Voyager.
