CORPORATE AIRCRAFT Canadair offers more range with its Challenger models Certification of the BAe 1000 is expected in 1991, followed by deliveries BAe is offering its 125-700-11 as a low- price-tag machine for the first-time busi ness-jet buyer. Refurbished -700s are treated to updated avionics, including Hon eywell EFIS with multifunction displays, Primus 870 colour weather radar and Global Wulfsberg GNS-500-V with GPS. The new cabin interior follows the style of the BAe 125-800 designed by Arkansas Modification Center. Canadair Challenger customers, with the extra 680kg gross-weight option on their 601-1A and 3A models, are now offered a further supplemental 226kg gross-weight option. An extended-range option for Chal lenger 601s allows a range of 6,670km. Improvements to the standard-fit avionics include Honeywell's Lasertrak navigation display unit, FMS quad-density database and Primus 870 weather radar. The Dassault Falcon 2000 is based on the Falcon 900 fuselage cross-section, short ened by a third and powered by two GE/Garrett CFE738 engines. Larger in cabin volume than all but the Falcon 900 and Gulfstream IV, it is intended to have US transcontinental range, flying higher and faster than earlier models. Climbing directly to 41,000ft from take-off, with full fuel and eight passengers, to cruise at M0.80-0.85, IFR range is projected at 5,560km. The cockpit will be equipped with Col lins EFIS, Cat II autopilot and digital flight-control system and include the ability to integrate microwave landing system, sat ellite communications and TCAS. The Falcon 2000's first flight is due early in 1993, followed by production aircraft deliveries in 1994. Aeroleasing, based in Geneva, is the first to order the type, taking five to add to its business aircraft fleet, which already includes 15 Falcons. The Astra SP 1125 twin-turbofan-powered business jet, made by Israel Aircraft Indus tries, is marketed exclusively from the USA by Astra Jet. The new "SP" (Special Per formance) model has Collins Advanced Pro Line 2 digital avionics, including the APS- 85 digital autopilot and the new EFIS-86C and a newly designed interior. Britain's CMC Leopard four-seat light twin- jet aircraft, aimed at the business and personal user, is being developed by a joint Designability/Slinsgby Aviation team, fi nanced and managed by the originators, Chichester-Miles Consultants (CMC). Flight trials of the prototype started in December 1988 and the first production- standard aircraft 002 is under construction. Certification to FAR23/BCAR23 standard and first deliveries to customers are sched uled for late 1993. The Leopard is projected to cruise at M0.76 to M0.80, at 45,000ft to 51,000ft. Range is expected to be 2,775km at maxi mum payload. CMC aims to offer the aircraft at £450,000 ($873,000) a copy delivered in the UK, at September 1990 price levels. ^^^^^^^^^^^ Boeing is not promoting business jets ac tively, but still supplies its models through leasing companies which have early delivery positions reserved. Fokker offers both the turboprop Fokker 50 and the Tay turbofan-powered Fokker 100 in corporate configurations. Designed by its own Design and Styling Center, the aircraft interiors can be arranged completely to customer requirements at the factory. The Fokker 100 is claimed to have the lowest cabin-noise level in its class. The aircraft also has low exterior noise levels, allowing operations at noise-sensitive air ports. The cockpit includes electronic in strument displays and the aircraft is also cleared for Category IIIB autoland in ad verse weather.Self-sufficient by virtue of its built-in airstair and onboard auxiliary power unit, the aircraft is independent of ground support equipment.
