PEOPLE AIA Louis Delia Salle, director of corporate technology develop ment for Grumman, has been elected chairman of the Elec tronics Systems Committee of the Aerospace Industries Associ ation (AIA). He succeeds Mique Talcott, who is senior technical advisor to Rockwell. Gerald Us- tach, manager in strategic plan ning, digital systems, for Westinghouse Electric, was elected vice-chairman.Reid Clausen, director, research and technology, Martin Marietta, and Ken Blair, manager, components engineering department, electro- optical and data systems group, General Motors Hughes Elec tronics, were named members- at-large. Dr Dennis Ahern, software IR&D co-ordinator, Westinghouse Electric, has been elected chairman of AIA's Em bedded Software Committee, succeeding Richard McClellen, manager of software engineering for LTV. Terry Snyder, manager, software engineering division of General Motors Hughes Elec tronics, was elected vice-chair man. Jerry Jenkins, manager, software engineering process group, Software Center of Excel lence, Martin Marietta, was named member-at-large. Trejor Jones WALKER AVIATION Walker Aviation has announced the appointment of Trefor Jones as group managing director, ef fective from 2 January, 1992. Jones was the founder of Bir mingham Executive Airways and its managing director from 1982 to 1988. He has also been presi dent of the European Regional Airlines Association. GENERAL DYNAMICS Alan Lovelace has been named senior vice-president for space policy and technology at General Dynamics. He will also continue as chairman of the company's Commercial Launch Subsidiary. Previously, Lovelace was corpo rate vice-president and general manager of the space systems division. MEMPHIS Jeffrey Stabile has joined the Memphis Group as director of business development, responsi ble for expanding the existing airline support business by ob taining additional inventories, as well as developing parts leasing and exchange programmes. Be fore joining the group, Stabile was president of Airmotive. HISPANO-SUIZA Raymond Poggi has been elected chairman and chief executive officer of Snecma subsidiary Hispano-Suiza, replacing Yves Bonnet, who has become execu tive vice-president of Snecma. Poggi joined Snecma in 1963, rising to the position of execu tive vice-president of Hispano- Suiza in 1990. SEXTANT AVIONIQUE Jean Segui, chairman and chief executive officer of Sextant Avi- onique since its founding, has resigned because of persistent health problems. The board named him honorary chairman, and elected Jean-Robert Martin to replace him. Martin was pre viously general manager of the aeronautical equipment branch of Thomson-CSF, which he joined in 1964. SMITHS INDUSTRIES Smiths Industries has appointed Dale Masbruch to the new posi tion of group manager, commer cial marketing. He will be responsible for marketing the commercial aerospace products of the Grand Rapids, Michigan, division. Masbruch was previ ously manager of commercial marketing for Jet Electronics. LAT Lockheed Air Terminal (LAT) has appointed Thomas O'Leary vice-president, external affairs, responsible for representing the company to various state and local governments and at the federal level. O'Leary, who began his career with Trans World - Airlines in 1947, was previously assistant vice-president, public affairs, at Pan American. HUDSON GENERAL Joseph Camulli has been ap pointed manager of Hudson General's FBO operation at Van couver International Airport in British Columbia, Canada. Cam- ulli's most recent position was as the chief pilot for a corporate aviation organisation. CASTLEBERRY Castleberry Instruments and Avionics, a subsidiary of BF- Goodrich Aerospace, has ap pointed Daniel Bullock vice- president, global sales, responsi ble for market development and sales of services to the world wide corporate, commerical and air travel industry. Bullock has previously held executive posi tions at Northwest and Frontier Airlines, AAR Technical Services and PRC Aviation. Ken Newell FEDERAL EXPRESS Federal Express has promoted Kenneth Newell to the position of senior vice-president, Europe, Mediterranean and Africa. New ell has been vice-president, UK and Ireland, since 1990. Joseph McCarty has been promoted to senior vice-president, Asia, Pa cific and Middle East. He has been vice-president for interna tional legal activities since 1987. Jeffrey Rodek, senior vice- president, USA and Canada, has also been given the responsibil ity for Latin America. All three will report to Thomas Oliver, who was recently named execu tive vice-president, worldwide customer operations. HARRIS James Burke has been appointed director of simulation and train ing of the Harris computer sys tems division. He was previously director of simulation marketing at Encore Computer.
