The appointment will be for a limited period of 3 years. Duties will include flying a fixed wing aircraft on a wide variety of police operational duties, and responsibility for ensuring that all RUC aviation commitments are met including administration of aircraft documents. Applicants must possess a current United Kingdom commercial pilot's licence (performance category 'C') with instrument rating and have a minimum of 2000 flying hours of which at least 500 hours must be in multi engined fixed wing aircraft. Although not essential the following would be advantageous:- (a) previous experience as a Chief Pilot; and/or (b) previous flying experience in H.M. Forces. Applicants should also possess a current driving licence and the use of a private car for official purposes. Initially the hours of duty will be variable but will amount to a net 37 hours per week Monday to Friday. In addition there may be a requirement to work at weekends. Salary will be £20857 rising to £27175 by annual increment and performance points. An environmental allowance of £250 per annum will also be payable. The Authority may decide to interview only those applicants who appear from the information available including nature, duration and extent of previous experience to be best qualified. Applicants successful at interview stage will have to undergo a flight assessment and evaluation.
