PEOPLE MCDONNELL DOUGLAS Thomas Gunn, president of MDC Helicopters, will return to St Louis to serve as vice- president for special projects in McDonnell Douglas' corporate office. Gunn, who joined the corporation in 1975, will act as an internal consultant in such areas as strategic business plan ning and marketing. BOEING Lawrence Clarkson has been named Boeing's corporate vice- president, planning and interna tional development. In this new position he will be responsible for the company's overall global growth strategies. Clarkson was a senior vice-president in Boeing Commercial Airplane, which he joined in 1987 after 20 years with Pratt & Whitney. Donald Mangis GEC-MARCONI Donald Mangis has been ap pointed vice-president, admini stration and operations, of GEC- Marconi InFlight Systems. He was previously with Sundstrand, where he held various manage ment positions, including gen eral manager,. Signatron division. LOCKHEED Lockheed Aircraft Service Company has named Robert Mole director, international business development, Pacific Rim. Mole was previously with Lockheed Aircraft (Asia) as area director, Far East. Before joining the company in 1980 he was employed by Barclays Bank. ROLLS-ROYCE Rolls-Royce has announced board changes following the full establishment of the Aerospace Group Board and the Industrial Power Group Board. The parent company board is being reshaped to reflect its delegation of operational matters to the group boards and to allow its concentration on corporate and strategic matters. As a result, Jim Keir, Frank Turner and Dr Robert Hawley relinquish their positions as directors of the main board. Keir and Turner continue as directors of the Aer ospace Group Board and Hawley as a director of the Industrial Power Group Board; he also becomes, managing director of NEI.. Richard Turner and John Rose have been elected to the main board to cover interna tional marketing and interna tional relations respectively. GATWICK HANDLING Tony Medhurst has been appointed to the new post of sales manager of Gatwick Han dling, with responsibility for group sales and marketing initia tives for Gatwick, Stansted and Manchester. He joins the com pany from Continental Airlines, where he was manager of airport services. Medhurst started his aviation career with Gatwick Handling's Flight Despatch. SEAPLANE PILOTS The Seaplane Pilots Association has elected two new members to its board: Dr Kenneth Fulton, currently president of SPA, and Clare Wesley, retired military officer and sales manager at St Cloud Aviation in Minnesota. KAMAN Kaman has elected Wanda Ro gers to the position of director. She is chairman and president of Rogers Helicopters and founder and chairman of the board of Clovis Community Bank. ISRAELI AIR FORCE Herzl Bodinger has been ap pointed commander of the Is raeli air force and promoted to the rank of Major General, suc ceeding Maj Gen Avihu Ben- Nun. Bodinger has been in the air force for 30 years, ""mainly as a fighter pilot, and in many senior command posts. HOWMET Howmet announced the retire ment at the end of 1993 of Ramiro Cameo-Ponz, chief exec utive of Howmet's French affili ate operations in France. Luc Moulin, an employee of the Pechiney Group, of which How- met is a member, succeeds Cameo-Ponz as chairman and chief executive officer of Micro- fusion SA and Le Magnesium Industriel. Cameo-Ponz will re main president of Ciral in France and Microfusion de Alu- minio in Spain for the next two years. He will also help transfer management responsibilities for the French activities. GIFAS GIFAS, the French aerospace in dustries federation, has ap pointed new officers to its equipment steering committee after the departure of its chair men, Jean Segui and Yves Bon net. Jean-Paul Bechat, chairman and chief executive of Messier- Bugatti, is the new chairman. The executive vice-president is Amaury Halna du Fretay of Labinal. Didier Domange of Aerazur and Jean-Louis Michel of Dassault Electronique become vice-presidents. The vice-presi dent treasurer is Edmond Marchegay of Interntechnique, Louis Le Portz of Auxilec is secretary, and Bernard Dubois of Thomson-TRT-Defense and Jean-Robert Martin of Sextant Avionique are members. Michael Scheldt BEECH Beech Aircraft has appointed Micheal Scheidt manager, re gional airline market support, responsible for marketing liaison on aircraft sales. As manager, aerospace subcontracts, Jim Shelden is responsible for con tracts such as Boeing 737 con trol surfaces and work for the McDonnell Douglas C-17.
