WORLD AIRLINE DIRECTORY Air Madagascar (Societe Nationale Malgache de Trans ports Aeriens), has recently opened a maintenance centre for all of its own aircraft, with the exception of the Boeing 747, and serves other carriers. The national carrier of the Democratic Republic of Madagascar, the airline is 89.58% Government-owned. Other sharehold ers are: Banque Nationale pour Plndustrie (4.78%), Air France (3.48%), Ny Havana Insurance Company (1.91%) and the Compagnie Generale Maritime (0.25%). The airline operates an extensive domestic network plus international routes to Paris and Marseille via Djibouti, and to Paris via Nairobi and Zurich. Regional services also link Antananarivo with Nairobi, Mauritius, Reunion and the Comoros Islands. Air Maghreb is a consortium of the national airlines of Algeria, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco and Tunisia. With the introduction of winter timetables on 1 November, 1990, the company operates co-ordinated schedules within the region. Air Malawi, the national airline of Malawi, operates a regional network of scheduled services from Kanmuzu International Airport to Harare, Gaborone, Johan nesburg, Nairobi and Lusaka. The carrier also operates domestic services Blantyre, Mzuzu and Karonga. Cargo operations are also available. The company is evaluating long-haul routes to Europe, India and the USA. Air Marshall Islands (Airline of the Marshall Islands) is the flag-carrier of the Republic of the Marshall Islands. The carrier was formed in May 1980 to provide scheduled passenger and freight services. Air ambulance, charter and maritime-surveillance operations are also undertaken. A twice-weekly Honolulu-Majuro-Kwajalein service has been added to an extensive domestic network. International routes to Funafuti (Tuvalu), Nadi (Fiji) and Tarawa (Kiribati) and Honolulu to Nadi and Fiji are also operated. The airline also undertakes services between Martinique and Guadelope since 28 October, 1990, using its ATR42s. Since 7 June, 1991, Paris has been served, using a leased Boeing 747.
