"Northwest Airlink" is the name used by Northwest Airlines for its network of commuter feeder services. Participating carriers include: Big Sky Airlines, Express Airlines I, Horizon Air, Mesaba Airlines, Precision Airlines and USAir, which adopt the Northwest livery and NW flight code when operating these services. Northwest Territorial Airways Air is 90% owned by Air Canada and some of the company's scheduled passenger and cargo services are operated as part of the "Air Canada Connector" network. Norway Airlines, formerly Air Europe Scandinavia, is a scheduled and charter passenger airline in which Sterling Airways has a 30.7% interest. The airline serves Oslo- London (Gatwick) and has applied to operate from Bergen and Stavanger to London (Gatwick). It plans to operate inter-Scandinavian single-class low-fare services, using McDonnell Douglas MD-83s. Other shareholders are Fokus Invest AS (43.2%) and Lyng Industries AS (11.9%). History: Norway Airlines, formed in 1987 as a passenger charter carrier with one Boeing 737, was taken over by the International Leisure Group, becoming Air Europe Scandinavia. Olympic Airways, the national airline of Greece, oper ates scheduled passenger and cargo services to 31 cities and islands in Greece and 39 destinations throughout Europe, Africa, the Near, Middle and Far East, Asia, Australia, Japan, Canada and the USA. The carrier is 100% Government-owned. Subsidiaries: Olympic Aviation, a subsidiary formed in 1971, operates light aircraft and helicopters on charter, air-taxi and flying-training duties. Another subsidiary is Olympic Air Tours. History: The airline was founded in 1957, when Aristotle Onassis took over TAE-Greek National Airlines (founded in 1951 through a merger of TAE, Hellas and Aero Metafoa Ellados), which had been nationalised in 1954. Onassis' 50-year concession gave him sole desig nation to operate a national airline and a monopoly on domestic routes. Onassis withdrew in 1974, following heavy losses, and the airline was grounded pending reorganisation. Settlement was reached in August 1975, with operations were resuming in January 1976. Oman Aviation Services, the national carrier of Oman, in which the Government has a 35% holding, operates scheduled services within the Sultanate of Oman, pro viding for its total civil air-transport requirements. History: The company was formed on 24 May, 1981, as the result of a merger of the former Gulf Air Light Aircraft division and Oman International Services. The new company is entirely Omani-owned.
