It has applied to operate Toronto to Newburgh (NY), Washing ton Dulles and National and Baltimore. Wholly owned by Canadian Regional Airlines (C RA) from 15 May, 1991, CRA is in turn owned by PWA Corporation, parent company of Canadian Airlines. Air Toronto was acquired on 1 November, 1991. Pan Air Lineas Aereas was formed in 1988 as a freight charter airline to operate services throughout Europe,. North Africa and the Middle East. The carrier is owned by TNT (25%) and private Spanish interests. The airline operates regular night freight services for TNT and uses its aircraft during the day and at weekends for ad hoc charters. Third-party engineering and maintenance serv ices are provided at the airline's Madrid-Barajas Airport base. History: Operations began in December 1988. Panama Air International, a new carrier which bought Air Panama International from the Panamanian Govern ment on 6 November, 1991, received its operating certificate on 11 February, 1992. Start up is expected by July 1992, although the aircraft fleet has not yet been decided. Routes: Panama to Miami, New York, Los Angeles, Mexico City, Havana, Bogota, Caracas, Guayaquil and Lima. Buenos Aires and Rio de Janeiro routes are expected to be added by the end of 1992. Pan American World Airways (Pan Am) ceased opera tions in December 1991. Pan Am Express, bought by TWA, operates feeder services to Pan Am's main route system at New York (JFK and LaGuardia) and Berlin Tegel. Fourteen destina tions in the USA and Canada are served from New York and 12 from West Berlin (Bremen, Dortmund, Hannover, Kiel, Basle, Strasbourg, Zurich, Innsbruck, Salzburg, Copenhagen, Oslo and Stockholm). In 1990, Pan Am Express expanded into Florida and the Bahamas. It now serves eight destinations in the Bahamas and five in Florida, from Miami. History: Ransome Airlines began operations in March 1967. Its association with the Allegheny Commuter system, which began in August 1970, ended in June 1982. Between May 1984 and April 1986, the airline operated in association with Delta under the "Delta Connection" banner. Pennsylvania Airlines, a regional carrier wholly owned by the USAir Group, operates scheduled passenger flights as part of the USAir Express feeder network. History: Formed in 1965 as Pennsylvania Commuter Airlines, serving Harrisburg-Washington, the carrier expanded to take in State College and Baltimore with Beech 18s and Cessna 402s. Services were operated for Eastern Airlines. The airline joined the Allegheny Commuter network in 1973, being acquired by USAir Group in 1985 as- part of the network which was renamed USAir Express.
