THIRD-PARTY AIRLINER MAINTENANCE DIRECTORY Key to tables Licensed engineers Numbers of licensed airframe/powerplant engineers are: (I) = 0-10; (II) = 11-25; (III) = 26-50; (IV) 51-100, or 100+. The other figures are accurate totals. (An * indicates a combined total of both disciplines.) Specialisation Maintenance specialisations — airframes or engines — are indicated by the letters A and E. Approvals Approval from major air worthiness authorities to conduct over haul, repair, maintenance or modification work is indicated by the abbreviations FAA (for US Federal Aviation Administration), CAA (UK Civil Aviation Authority), DGA (France) or LBA (Germany). Local national approval is indicated by Nat, and holders of a variety of approvals are shown by Var. Aircraft size As a rough indication of the range of maintenance available, the largest and smallest aircraft accepted (down to 5,700kg) are listed. Some aircraft designa tions have been abbreviated. Capacity The hangar capacity available for dedicated overhaul/maintenance work has been derived by asking companies how many aircraft they can accommodate if all are of similar size: ie all widebodies, all narrowbodies or all commuters. Overhaul checks The level of check of fered is indicated by the letters B, C, and D. Where a company is qualified to per form D checks, levels B and C have been assumed. Additional services Maintenance compa nies offering modification services, holding supplemental type certificates (STCs), or able to fit new interiors or to paint aircraft are shown by the letters M, S, I or P, respectively. Engines Powerplants have been divided into four groups: large turbofans, small turbofans, turbojets and turboprops. For each group we list up to three types in which companies claim to specialise.
