PEOPLE ALLISON ENGINE Dr Blake Wallace, who led the management buy-out team which acquired US manufac turer Allison Engine from Gen eral Motors, has been named chairman and chief executive. Wallace will be joined on the board by executive vice-presi dents Wilson Burns, Mike Hudson and Frank Verkamp, all from Allison. Leon Hendrix, of New York investment firm Clayton, Dubilier & Rice — which backed the buy-out — will work with the Allison management team. AVIALL Marshall Taylor has been named president and chief ex ecutive of US engine supplier and parts distributor Aviall, of Dallas, Texas. He was previ ously president and chief exec utive for Ryder System's aviation companies, which were spun off to become Aviall business units. Ten senior management appointments have also been made.
