PEOPLE Allan Sandgren EMERY WORLDWIDE Allan Sandgren has been ap pointed general manager for Denmark at air-freight com pany Emery Worldwide, of Palo Alto, California. He was previously director of sales and marketing at Copen hagen's Kuhne & Nagel. HELLENIC AEROSPACE Athanasios Nezis has become chairman of Greece's Hellenic Aerospace Industry (HAI). Clifton Andersen has been ap pointed managing director and a board member. He was gen eral manager of manufacturing at the Lockheed Aircraft Serv ice (LASC)/HAI management team and, before that, was director of operations at LASC, based in Ontario, California. Andersen replaces Daniel Lange, who becomes general manager of GAMECO, a Lock heed joint-venture company in Guangzhou, China. UNITED TECHNOLOGIES David Yoder has been ap pointed president of United Technologies International - Middle East, based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Yoder, who was with the US Air Force, joined United Technologies in 1991. EURO DIRECT New UK scheduled airline Euro Direct has revealed its senior management team. Capt Derek Worthington is director of operations', Guy Griffin be comes marketing director; Robert Clark is named finance director; John Dixon is ap pointed general manager of op erations; and Sylvia Wright becomes cabin-services man ager. Worthington was previ ously with British World Airlines; Griffin with STS Travel and Aspect Interna tional; Clark was with UK air line Dan-Air; Dixon was operations manager at Airtours International; and Wright has worked for Jersey European and British Island Airways. DASA John Tucker, recently ap pointed chairman of the man agement board of Munich- based engine manufacturer MTU, has been appointed to the board of its parent com pany, Deutsche Aerospace (DASA). Tucker was appointed to MTU from the presidency of US company AEG Transporta tion Systems on 11 March. He takes over from Hubert Dunkler, who is to retire later in 1994. LOCKHEED Lockheed Aeronautical Systems (LASC) has merged all com pany programmes dealing with naval and maritime-surveil lance missions under Tom Bur- bage, who had headed LASC's A/F-X programme. Named vice-president and general manager, Navy programmes, he will control all P-3 Orion, S-3 Viking, naval tactical aircraft, maritime-surveillance and air borne early-warning projects. AMECO Dr Klaus Stahlschmidt, for merly Lufthansa's divisional manager for aircraft overhauls, has been appointed chief exec utive of China-based Aircraft Maintenance and Engineering (AMECO). The company is a joint venture between the Ger man airline and Air China es tablished in 1989.
