REGIONAL AND UTILITY AIRCRAFT Regional and utility aircraft directory The regional- aircraft industry made a brisk start to 1995 and plans for future consolidation are in the pipeline KIERAN DALY AND JENNIFER PITE/LONDON M uch-needed consolidation came to the regional-aircraft industry early in 1995, when the Aerospatiale/Alenia joint-venture, Avions de Transport Regional (ATR), and British Aerospace agreed to pool marketing, sales and customer- support activities. ATR and BAe are hopeful that other manu facturers will eventually join their grouping, although Canada's Bombardier believes the merger of its Canadair and de Havilland 7P77Vplans US assembly of locally producedN-250 regional-aircraft activities to be sufficient consolidation, while Daimler-Benz Aerospace has both Dornier and Fokker already under its wing. CASA and Saab remain uncommit ted to alliances. In fact, the regional-aircraft industry may be in danger once more of proliferating.
