Stephen Ratcliffe • AVIALL Engine overhaul company Aviall Dallas Engine Services, of Dallas Texas, has appointed Stephen Ratcliffe general manager for the CFiM Inter national CFM56 and Inter national Aero Engines V2500 He was formerly director of Continental Airlines' interna tional powerplant operations. • ASTRA JET Walter Kraujalis has been named director for the Galaxy business- jet programme by Astra Jet, the marketing arm of manufacturer Israel Aircraft Industries. Kraujalis, who is to establish a Galaxy oper ators' advisory board, has experi ence as a chief pilot on a variety of Galaxy-class business aircraft. •JET AVIATION Business-aviation service com pany Jet Aviation has appointed Walter Berchthold vice-presi dent for aircraft maintenance at its West Palm Beach, Florida head quarters. He was formerly mainte nance-planning manager at Jet Aviation, Geneva, Switzerland. • USAIR Robert Oaks is named senior vice-president for operations at USAir, of Arlington, Virginia, replacing Gene Sharp, who is to retire. Oaks, formerly vice-presi dent of corporate safety and regu latory compliance, will be succeeded by retired US Air Force Lt Gen Malcolm Armstrong. • RAYTHEON Airframe manufacturer Raytheon, of Wichita, Kansas, has appointed Howard Stewart director for Government contracts. Stewart, with Raytheon since 1984, was formerly manager for contract administration. • BOEING Boeing Commercial Airplane Group, of Seattle, has appointed Dr Dinesh Keskar president of Boeing India. Keskar, formerly director of sales for the Indian subcontinent and based in Seattle, will establish a new office in Bombay. • SMITHS Avionics supplier Smiths In dustries Aerospace, of Grand Rapids, Michigan, has named Jim Wasson director of technology marketing of Defense Systems North America. He was previous ly senior programme and busi ness-development manager at McDonnell Douglas Helicopter Systems in Mesa, Arizona. • BAE Allan MacDonald has been named director of regional mar keting at British Aerospace, based in Farnborough, Hamp shire, UK. He was most recently managing director of Jetstream Aircraft, BAe's regional-turbo prop business, based in Prest- wick, Scotland. • ALLIEDSIGNAL Technology manufacturing com pany AlliedSignal Aerospace, of Torrance, California, has appoint ed Robert Choulet senior vice- president of business strategy. His former position of president of AlliedSignal Engines, based in Phoenix, Arizona, will be filled by James Robinson, who was vice- president of regional and busi ness-aviation propulsion. • AOPA The Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA), of Fred erick, Maryland, has named Ralph Hood national CFI mar keting mentor for AOPA's project pilot instructor programme, which it claims to be the nation's largest group of active flight- instructors. • TMI FINANCE Louis "Skip" Scipioni has been appointed chief executive of TMI Aircraft Finance, an Austin, Texas-based company which pro vides financial support for the aerospace industry. Scipioni was most recently director of Model 250 marketing and sales at Allison Engine's Rolls-Royce Aerospace division. • DOWNTOWN Maintenance company Down town Airpark, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, has named Adriano Davila director of international sales. Over the past 14 years, fol lowing US Air Force service, Davila has been a pilot and tech nician instructor at both Col orado Aerotech and FlightSafety International. Greg Groves has become interior department manager, replacing Ed Smith, who has retired. Groves has been with Downtown for 14 years. • BRITISH AIRWAYS Jill Manaton has been appointed area marketing manager for the Far East at UK national carrier PEOPLE British Airways. She was former ly senior manager master brand, responsible for advertising spon sorship and media worldwide. Walter Crawford • SONY TRANS In-flight entertainment-systems supplier Sony Trans Com, of Irvine, California, has promoted Walter Crawford to director of marketing. He was formerly director of product and pro gramme management.
