• HAECO Peter Sutch has resigned his post of chairman of Swire Pacific's Hong Kong Aircraft Engineering (HAECO). Sutch, who remains chairman of Swire and Cathay Pacific, is replaced by David Turnbull, Cathay Pacific Airways deputy managing director. • AMERICA WEST America West president Maurice Myers will retire at the end of the year, when William Franke, the airline's chairman and chief executive, will take over his responsibilities until a successor is selected. Myers joined America West in December 1993, assisting in the US carrier's emergence from Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. • ANZ Robert Nazarian has been appointed chief financial officer at Air New Zealand (ANZ). Nazarian, now chief financial offi cer for Lion Nathan Australia, will take up his new position at the beginning of October. Nazarian replaces Robert Elstone, who moves to a similar position with Australia's Pioneer International group of companies. • KLM Jan Meurer has been named vice- president for operations at Dutch national carrier KLM, replacing Henny Essenbert, who becomes group managing director for Air UK. Enno Osinga succeeds Meurer as vice-president for cus tomer service at KLM Cargo. He was formerly manager of cabin- crew divisions and deputy to the manager of cabin corps. Michael Kimman becomes manager of business systems at KLM Cargo. He was formerly manager of com puting and network services for KLM Automation. • ROLLS-ROYCE INC Stanley Doepke is named direc tor of airline marketing and Bruce McClelland becomes air line-analysis manager at Rolls- Royce Inc, the US arm of the UK aero-engine manufacturer. Doepke was formerly sales direc tor at Fokker Aircraft USA, while McClelland was director of strategic market planning at Daimler-Benz Aerospace (Dor- nier). Frederick Kocher becomes senior vice-president for customer support. He was most recently senior vice-presi dent for maintenance operations at USAir. • CESSNA Arbrey Barrett has been named vice-president for aircraft com pletions at Cessna Aircraft, of Wichita, Kansas. Barrett joined Cessna as a manufacturing super visor in 1965, having held similar positions at airframe manufactur er Boeing, of Seattle, Wash ington. Five new executives are appointed for the company's sin gle-engine-aircraft interests. They are H D Cartwright, director of materials; Stan O'Brien, director of engineering; Terry Whitesell, director of finance; Mike Wilson, director of management-information ser vices; and Jerry Hiatt, director of human resources. • ANA Seiji Fukatsu, president and chief executive of Japan's All Nippon Airways (ANA), has been named chairman, for a two-year term, of computer reservations company Abacus Distribution Systems. ANA has a 12.9% stake in Abacus. • COOPER Aircraft-parts distributor Cooper Aviation, of Elk Grove Village, Illinois, has named Dave Davis Cooper Express representative in the Mid-West, and Mike Fischer joins the company's inside sales- support staff. • LOCKHEEDMARITN Sandra Walls has been appoint ed vice-president of business management at Lockheed Mar tin Aeronautical Systems, of Marietta, Georgia. She replaces Todd Kallman, who becomes vice-president of business man agement for the aeronautics sec tor of Lockheed Martin, of Bethesda, Maryland. Walls, with Lockheed since 1969, was for merly director of enterprise business planning. • PRECISION Gen Thomas Richards (US Air Force, retired) has been elected to the board of maintenance and modification company Precision Standard, of Birmingham, Alabama. Richards is a former Administrator of the US Federal Aviation Administration. • SAAB Saab Aircraft of America has appointed John Sterne as a director for regional-airline sales. He was formerly sales director with ATR Marketing. Al Smolinski, previously marketing director for Jetstream Aircraft, becomes vice-president for mar keting support. Mike Miller, previously of Rolls-Royce, will serve as director of fleet planning. • PIPER Larry Bardon, formerly with Lockheed's "Skunk Works" and Pilatus Aircraft, has been appointed director for marketing and sales at light piston-aircraft manufacturer New Piper Aircraft, of Vero Beach, Florida. Dan Elliott becomes manager PEOPLE for manufacturing. Elliott, who previously spent 13 years with Piper, returns having served as chief tool engineer and manager for production engineering for Rohr Industries. • SHANNON Peter Ellison is named head of marketing and sales at Shannon Aerospace of Ireland. He replaces Roger Haslimeier, who has completed a five-year second ment from Swissair. Ellison, pre viously deputy to Haslimeier, joined Shannon in 1994, having worked formerly for Irish leasing company GPA. • SMITHS Mike Ghalayini has been named regional marketing director at avionics supplier Smiths Industries' US arm based at Stamford, Connecticut.
