Roy Norris says FlightSafety completes the Raytheon aircraft system. —^ At the company's new offices in Wichita, Raytheon Aircraft President Roy Norris savors the exhilara tion that still lingers after Raytheon Corporate Jets and Beech Aircraft Corporation merged in 1994 to form the present company. Norris, a native of Birmingham, Alabama, brings to his position a depth of marketing and sales experience in both the aviation and computer industries. tf* &» 0o Aircraft Co, 'Afc From his perspective as President of Raytheon Aircraft, Roy Norris sees clearly what it takes to satisfy today's corporate customers. And FlightSafety training is part of his formula. "Years ago, aircraft manufac turers tended simply to sell an airplane, a piece of hardware," he says. "But today's customers aren't interested in just an air plane anymore; what they want is a transportation system. It has to include the hardware, but also the 'software' — strong service and support, as well as training, as part of a totally integrated system." Extending the computer analogy, Nowis observes that, even though today's aircraft are much more complex than those of 20 years ago, improvements in the user interface and increased emphasis on training and support have made today's "hardware" easier to operate. "But all the sophisticated advances we've pro vided to make the aircraft safer and easier to fly go for naught unless —•** we teach the people who use it how to take advantage of Partners in Training '^fety Inter***** An aviation enthusiast and private pilot, Raytheon's Roy Norris once owned a Piper Cub and later an open-cockpit biplane — a Tiger Moth — which he flew over most of the Western U.S. He has also had a lot of fun (about 500 hours) soaring around in sailplanes. those improvements. So the training por tion of our total system solution is now all the more important." That is why Raytheon customers receive FlightSafety initial training with their new aircraft. It is also why, as Norris says, "FlightSafety is involved with us almost from day one as we plan new products. Bringing together a suc cessful product offering means putting together a successful team. And FlightSafety and Raytheon have found a formula that works."
