History: Formed as the wholly Government-owned national airline of Singapore, to succeed the jointly operated Malaysia-Singapore Airlines. The Government's holding has been successively reduced, to 73% in 1985, and 54% now. In November 1990, Delta Air Lines, Singapore Airlines and Swissair announced a trilateral purchase of equity between the three partners from the open market, to a maximum of 5% of each other's stock (Delta Air Lines 5% and Swissair 2.7%).
