PEOPLE Stephen Sturton-Davies • GB AIRWAYS Stephen Sturton-Davies has been appointed to the new posi tion of general manager for the Western Mediterranean at UK scheduled carrier GB Airways, of Gatwick Airport. lie will he based at the British Airways office in Madrid, Spain. •LONGBOW Richard Russell has been named president of the Longbow Limited Liability Company, the Lockheed Martin/Northrop Grumman joint venture developing and manufac turing the Longbow weapon sys tem. He will also head Longbow International, a joint venture set up for international sales. He was for merly director of advanced systems at Lockheed Martin's Electronics & Missiles in Orlando, Florida. Russell succeeds George Minto, who will direct business-develop ment activities for Electronics & Missiles' missile programmes. • EUROFIGHTER Brian Phillipson has become managing director of F.urofighter Jagdflugzeug, based in Munich, Germany. lie succeeds Bill Mc- Naughton, who has completed a three-year term in the post. Phil lipson was most recently director of strategy and planning at British Aerospace, and worked for BAe's Military Aircraft division. •LOCKHEED Lockheed Martin, of Bethesda, Maryland, has named William Bullock president of Lockheed Martin Aeronautical Systems in Marietta, Georgia. He succeeds John McLellan, who is to retire. • BMWR-R Robin Bailey has been appointed head of product support for the BR700 family of engines by Ger man manufacturer BMW Rolls- Royce. Bailey has extensive prod uct-support experience with airlines and manufacturers, includ ing Cathay Pacific, Rolls-Royce, Saab and, most recently, GKN Westland Helicopters, where he was head of product support for the EH 101 programme. He replaces Sandy Aitken, who is returning to the UK. • LUFTHANSA Lufthansa has named the six-man executive board which is to take charge of the restructured passen ger division of die company from 1 April. The company's current exec utive vice-president for marketing, Frederick Reid, will become head of marketing and network manage ment, as well as being board spokesman. Lufthansa's current sales director for Germany, Stefan Pichler, is to become the board's head ol sales, while products and services will be handled by Lufthansa CityLine managing director Karl-Friedrich Rausch. CityLine says that Rausch's succes sor as managing director has not yet been confirmed. Airbus A340 captain and current executive vice- president of operations, Carl Sigel, will become the board mem ber for operations, while Ralf Teckentrup, now Lufthansa's marketing control chief, is to become head of business manage ment. Company lawyer Wolfgang Sacher has been appointed the board's personnel chief. • TRACOR David Lawrence has been pro moted to president of Tracor Flight Systems, an Austin, Texas- based subsidiary of Tracor, which has operations in Mojave, Cali fornia, and Fort Walton Beach, Florida. He replaces Don Fagan, who has retired. Lawrence was for merly vice-president of the Tracor Systems division, responsible for managing the QF-4 hill-scale aeri al-target programme. • NJS Adelaide, Australia-based National Jet Systems (NJS) Group has appointed former Qantas execu tive Mike Grehan general manag er. He was previously financial con troller for Qantas' Associated Business division, responsible lor the oversight of regional airlines, including Qantas Airlink, which operates 11 British Aerospace 146s on a wet-lease basis from NJS. • MDC Grace Robertson has been appointed to head the Advanced Transport Aircraft Systems group of McDonnell Douglas (MDC) Military Transport Aircraft. She replaces John King, who is to retire. Robertson was formerly vice-president/general manager for development at MDC comany Douglas Aircraft. • FAA Dr Anne Harlan has been ap pointed director of the US Federal Aviation Administration's William J Hughes Technical Center in Atlantic City, New Jersey. She was most recently special assistant to the regional administrator of the FAAs New England region. Fran Waddle • SONY TRANS Irvine, California-based airline- entertainment- and cabin-infor mation-systems provider Sony Trans Com has appointed Fran Waddle director of entertain ment and information services.
