The new engine, designated the AE3OXX, will use a Rolls-Royce Tay fan, while BMW Rolls-Royce will supply the turbine section, using technology from its BR710 turbofan. A42kNAE3007-Al is being developed for a "hot-and-high" EMB-145, increasing thrust 15% by upgrading the hot section with high- temperature, single-crystal blades. A derated variant, the 28.5kN AE3007-A3, has been selected for die EMB-135. Allison is offering a version of the AE2100 turboprop for the upgraded ShinMaywa US- 1A Kai amphibian. The AE2100J has a modi fied gearbox and propeller. Poor reliability-the airline had to perform per form 31 engine changes on its five II-96-300s during 1995 - persuaded Ilvushin to re-engine the 11-96 with Pratt & Whitney PW2000 turbo- fans.
