History Set up as Wrangler Aviation in 1969 operating Lockheed Constellations, under FAA Part 91, becoming a Part 121 carrier in 1978. In 1981 it became an all- cargo airline with the CL-44. The airline expanded with a L-1011 TriStar civil cargo aircaft in February 1991. The present name was adopted in November 1991. In July 1993 it was given four months to restructure by the US DoT as it was found to be majority owned or controlled by interests from Singapore. A review in August 1995 decided that following board and management changes the carrier is now a "US citizen." In December 1997, Tradewinds received OS DoT approval to fly domestic and international passenger charters using five aircraft or less. Passenger charters to Boston and Montego Bay began on 15 February, 1997.
