PEOPLE • SIMUFLITE William McEwen has been named manager for communica tions at SimuFlite Training International, of Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas. He reports to Allison Blankenship, managing director for courseware and communications. • VANGUARD Jim Miller is to replace Ron McClellan as vice-president for maintenance and engineering at Vanguard Airlines, of Kansas City, .Missouri. xMiller was most recent ly director of quality assurance. B AIR LEASES Leonard Simkovitz has been appointed vice-president of mar keting at International Air Leases, of Hialeah, Florida. He replaces Boyd Mesecher, who has retired. Simkovitz was formerly director of aircraft programmes. • GECAS Don Black has been named senior vice-president and manager of the new fleet advisory services team of GE Capital Aviation Services, the leasing arm of GE Capital. Mike Jones becomes senior vice-presi dent and manager of the Asia region, with offices in Hong Kong, Beijing and Singapore. Li Liu becomes a senior vice-presi dent with responsibility for China. David Kingsley, formerly group treasurer for British Midland Airways, becomes senior vice-president for the Europe/Middle East/Africa region. He will be based in Vienna, and joined by Doug Winter, formerly marketing director at Douglas Aircraft, who becomes a vice-president. • AAR COOPER Pete Whitaker has been named branch manager of AAR Cooper Aviation sales and distribution at Dallas, Texas. Patrick Nail becomes branch manager of the company's Kansas City branch. Ed Laakso becomes vice-president for materials and operations. Ken Mercier becomes vice-president for sales and marketing. Ken Cooper is named manager of mar keting services. • MESSIER-DOWTY Dominique Paris has succeeded Tony Edwards as chief executive of Messier-Dowty following the sale by TI Group of its 50% hold ing to Snecma last December. Paris was previously chief operat ing officerof the landing gear man ufacturer. • FLIGHTSAFETY Marsha Bell has been promoted to product marketing director for new national sales at FlightSafety International (FSI), ofFlushing, New York. Bell has been product market ing manager at the FSI/ Raytheon Learning Center in Wichita, Kansas, for the past eight years. • NCAT Joseph Syslo has been named vice-president of the Aerospace Industries Association's National Center for Advanced Technologies (NCAT). Mark Gordon is pro moted to director of education programmes, having been manag er of integrated product and process development pro grammes. Dr Robert Post joins NCAT as director of technology research. • WORLD AIRWAYS Daniel Altobello and Gen Ronald Fogleman have been appointed to the board of World Airways. • POLAR AIR Kathy Styer has been appointed senior director of customer service at Polar Air Cargo, of Long Beach, California. Before joining Polar in 1993, she was vice-president of sales and customer service at De Ster, a manufacturer and vendor to the airline industry. • AMERICAN Walter Aue has been named vice- president for capacity planning at American Airlines, replacing Mel- vin Olsen, who is to retire on 1 July. Aue is now managing director for capacity planning. • JEA ENGINEERING Exeter, UK based JEA Engineering has completed a programme of maintenance on a British Aerospace 146 belonging to new customer Atlantic Airways, of the Faroe Islands.
