ten thousand and eight-hundred baggages-per hr. can be checked-in by departing passengers (the capacity will increase to 15.000). Malpensa is better: there are numbers to prove it. twentysix flying bridges (39 in the year 2000) with direct access to aircraft, for faster and more comfortable embarkation/disembarkation procedures. seventyseven stores. duty-free shops, cafes. fast-food outlets and restaurants, banks, currency exchange and cash-refund counters, public services etc... The new Terminal I is ready: at last Milan, Lombardy, and Northern Italy (and, why not? even Canton Ticino) have an International/Intercontinental airport worthy of this name, a hub for national-international non-stop connections; total capacity, including Terminal 2 (the original terminal), will exceed 24 million passengers p.a.; a new Cargo City, currently under construction, will offer logistic facilities for handling over one million tons of freight. 1998: Italy enters Europe, Europe enters Italy by an impressive new gate-way. Malpensa Terminal lis more spacious, safer, more comfortable: MALPENSA IS BETTER! two satellites (3 by the year 2000) for the embarkation areas, each one as big as a medium-sized airport, are reached by moving walkways running on separate levels for arrivals and departures; this guarantees maximum security and smooth and easy transit (it is practically impossible to take a wrong direction). There will no longer be any difference between Passengers for E.U. and domestic flights. one hundred and eightysix check-in counters in 6 aisles for very fast operations with minimum waiting-time. two thousand and five hundred requests for new connections to and from Milano. for years on a waiting list due to traffic congestion, can now be accepted: this will increase flight frequencies (and therefore seats) on the busiest routes and offer new destinations from Milan for the world. MALPENSA a multilevel parking for 10.500 cars with direct access (by escalator) to the Terminal building. http://www.sea-aeroportimilano.it
