DuPont's Bill McCabe chooses FlightSafety because the CHEMISTRY IS ALWAYS RIGHT. When Bill McCabe served as chief of air crew training for the Strategic Air Com mand back in the '80s, he knew all the requirements for an effective training op eration. As today's Director of Aviation and Market Initiatives for DuPont, he still does. And that is why he is perpetuating DuPont's long tradition of pilot- and maintenance training at FlightSafety. From our Wilmington, Savannah, Houston and Long Beach centers, we meet all the training needs of about 30 DuPont pilots and 25 technicians who fly and main tain a fleet of eight Gulfstreams and Hawkers based in Wilmington, Houston, and Ponca City, Oklahoma. McCabe's early-1997 decision to assume his current role, after seven years with DuPont, was accompanied by another personal decision - to get requalified for com mercial-level flying after a 10-year period of relative WILLIAM 0. McCABE DIRECTOR. DuPONT AVIATION AND MARKET INITIATIVES Before joining DuPont in 1990, Bill McCabe retired with the rank of Colonel after a distinguished U.S. Air Force career which included combat in fighter aircraft during the Vietnam conflict and various operations and management positions with the Strategic Air Command. McCabe currently sets the strategic direction for and manages DuPont's 70-person aviation workforce and also serves as spokesperson for the company's $1 billion global aerospace efforts. inactivity as a pilot. So it was that McCabe got a first hand feel for FlightSafety training - along with a GUI type-rating - at our Savan nah Learning Center. "The staff did a marvelous job," he says, "and I gained a per spective on FlightSafety training that I couldn't have gained any other way." McCabe's perspective on training is further shaped by DuPont's esteemed "safety culture" - in which the goal of safety is achieved in part by an emphasis on employee sup port and interdependence. In keeping with that cul ture, McCabe cites open communication and continu ing dialogue with FlightSafety personnel as evidence that "this is not just a vendor-based relationship, but a strate gic partnership." For its training needs, as in other pur suits, DuPont has found the right formula. THE SAFETY CULTURE DuPont's corporate symbol has long been a banner for the highest standards of industrial safety.
