BOMBARDIER ^^ AEROSPACE B^S-R Bombardier Aerospace - A brief history Bombardier Aerospace is the third largest civil airframe manufacturer in the world and a leader in both regional aircraft and business jet markets. The company combines the expertise and resources of four long-established aircraft manufacturers: Canadair and de Havilland in Canada, Learjet in the United States and Shorts in the United Kingdom. Together, these Bombardier units have built more than 15,000 aircraft. Bombardier Aerospace leads the 20- to 70-passenger regional carrier market. Its Dash 8 Q Series aircraft family continues to set the standard for dispatch reliability in the turboprop class and now offers added capacity with the 70-seat Q400 Dash 8. In over six years of service, its Canadair Regional Jet has emerged as the regional airliner of choice. On May 28, the company ushered in a new era in regional air travel with the rollout of the 70-seat version of this revolutionary aircraft, the CRJ700 Series. It introduced in September 1998 the BRJ-X, a new 90-seat airliner which would commence deliveries in 2003. Leading the worldwide corporate jet market, Bombardier Aerospace offers the industry's widest range of business jets, from the light and midsize Learjet series to the widebody Challenger and ultra long-range Bombardier Global Express. In October 1998, Bombardier introduced the Bombardier Continental business jet an all-new transcontinental super mid size business jet. Launch of this new business jet is expected this spring, followed by first flight in 2001, and type certification in 2002. Bombardier also provides the industry's most comprehensive range of aviation services including top-rated customer support, fractional aircraft ownership, and worldwide charter operations and aircraft maintenance. Bombardier also produces a multimission waterbomber, the Canadair 415, and supplies large aircraft manufacturers worldwide with innovative airframe structures, nacelles and components. As the only aerospace manufacturer with full design and production operations in three countries, Bombardier enjoys excellent market access and flexibility in managing its programs. Bombardier Aerospace employs more than 31,000 people and its annual sales exceed C$6.4 billion. With products and aircraft flying in every corner of the world, Bombardier Aerospace remains committed to defining future standards in aerospace by designing, creating and supporting products of superior quality.
