j'jJAJj"J/£NMNCe MMECTunY NOTES ON TABLES THIS Flight International Third-Party Airliner Maintenance Di rectory Part 1 covers companies in the Americas. It is an update of the information published in the issue of 1-7 February, 2000. Part 2, covering Africa, Asia, Aus tralasia and the Pacific Rim, will be pub lished in the 1-7 May issue. Part 3, cov ering Europe and the CIS, will be published in the 2-8 October issue. The tables are arranged in alphabetical order, by company within country. They are designed to provide a simple indica tion of the level of heavy maintenance capability offered to other airlines or to operators of other manufacturers' engines or aircraft. For space reasons, we cannot guarantee to list firms odier than those which serve third parties and/or are capable of handling aircraft weighing 5,700kg or more (or dieir engines). Companies that specialise in compo nents, rather than whole airframes or engines, are not included. We have cho sen not to list those companies which only provide A checks/line maintenance because of magazine space limitations. This will be reviewed in the future. Companies which have not received our questionnaire, but which believe that they meet the criteria, should con tact Flight International if they wish to be included in future editions. KEY TO LISTINGS Licensed engineers numbers of licensed airframe/ engine/avionics engineers. , Specialisation maintenance specialisations - air frames or engines. Approvals approval from major airworthiness authori ties to conduct overhaul, repair, maintenance or modification work is indicated by the abbreviations: CAA UK Civil Aviation Authority; CAAC Civil Aviation Administration of China; FAA US Federal Aviation Administration; JAA European Joint Airworthiness Authorities; LBA German Luftfahrt-Bundesamt; and DGAC French Direction Generate de Aero- nautique Civile. Space restrictions mean that some other approvals may be held, but not listed. Aircraft type as a rough indication of the range of maintenance available, the principal large and small aircraft types-pccepted are listed. Some des ignations are abbreviated. Capacity the hangar capacity available for dedicated overhaul/maintenance work has been derived by asking companies how many aircraft they can accommodate at the same time if they are all of a similar size: ie, all are widebodies, all are narrow- bodies or all are commuter aircraft. Overhaul checks the level of check offered, B, C or D. Additional services offering modification services, holding supplemental type certificates, able to fit new interiors or to paint aircraft.
