www.flightintemational.com WE SPEND OUR LIVES PROTECTING OTHERS ENVIRONMENT TRANSPORT REGIONS \ INVESTOR IN PEOPLE Deputy Chief Inspector of Air Accidents Farnborough, Hants Up to £80,000 The Air Accidents Investigation Branch - AAIB - exists to improve aviation safety. We investigate all aircraft accidents and serious incidents which occur in UK airspace, and participate in overseas investigations when British aircraft are involved or when our expertise is required. Our aim is to determine the circumstances and causes of accidents with a view to the preservation of life and the avoidance of accidents in the future. Now, an exceptional person is needed to provide a senior management focus for key components within the organisation. Reporting to the Chief Inspector of Air Accidents (who in turn reports to the Deputy Prime Minister), you will provide direction and leadership to a team of professional pilot and aeronautical engineering specialists. To be considered for such an exacting role, you should be either a professional pilot or a chartered aeronautical engineer, with a deep understanding of the issues surrounding civil aviation accident investigation. Your team will number well over 40 (including administrative support staff), so you will need to draw on effective management and influencing skills; you must also have the assurance to represent the AAIB at the highest levels. The post is offered as a five year fixed-term appointment, with the possibility of an extension or conversion to permanency. We offer a salary of up to £80,000 (depending on qualifications and experience), though more may be available for exceptional candidates.
