It's no secret. If you read the major newspapers or watch the network television news, you know that Air Traffic Control Delays and I Airport Surface Management are two of the biggest problems facing commercial aviation today. That's why UPS is committing its resources to a new technology that will begin to solve these problems right now: Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B). ADS-B provides more accurate surveillance of aircraft traffic than Radar. And ADS-B equipment, available today, provides accurate, reliable displays of aviation traffic to controllers and pilots alike. This new technology will allow pilots and controllers to work together in new ways to improve safety and reduce delays. UPS Aviation Technologies is the first major avionics company to develop and certify ADS-B equipment and displays for use in both the airline and general aviation environment. UPS Airlines, the ninth largest air ^B gjjfc^^ carrier in North America, is installing the equipment in its fleet of more than 240 jet aircraft At UPS, we are AS ' ^^^H committed to working with the FAA, the airport community, other airlines and general m JL ' *" aviation aircraft m ^A . operators to hasten the day when airport delays are vastly reduced and accidents on airport surfaces m I "^^^^^^^B are a relic of the past.
