Based at London Luton Airport the Design and Projects Manager is responsible to the Engineering Director for the organisation and administration of the Design and Projects office, operating to the high standard that are expected of a UK CAA approved design organisation. The Department currently holds UK CAA design approval in E2 and E3 under Chapter A8-8 of British Civil Airworthiness Requirements and is currently obtaining approval under JAR 21 Subpart JA. Proven Management experience is essential to manage the team of highly qualified multi-disciplined staff. Candidates must be conversant with CAA BCAR A8-8 and JAR 21 Subpart JA, and ideally will have a formal engineering qualification (HND or above). Applicants must have an extensive background (minimum 10 years experience) in aircraft design, with a good understanding of large transport aircraft operations in relation to design and specification in a practical operating environment. The successful candidate will be conversant with all relevant legislation including FAA requirements. The applicant must hold, or be eligible to hold CAA design approval. It employs 4100 civilian and military personnel across four sites. Position: A vacancy now exists for an Airfield Manager at DARA St Athan near Cardiff. We are looking for an experienced individual to manage and co-ordinate all flying and airfield operating activities, including Air Traffic Control, Fire/Crash services & Airfield facilities. The jobholder will also be responsible for local orders and procedures as well as liaison with the relevant regulating authorities. In addition, the Airfield Manager will act as the line manager for DARA staff involved in these activities and will have full accountability for all aspects within his/her area of control. The successful candidate will be expected to lead change and create an environment of continuous improvement to deliver the corporate plan. Candidate: The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills. Experience in a military flying supervisory role will be an advantage.
