The first Countermeasures Conference Washington DC, 28 January 2004 Recent events have given fresh urgency to the issue of missile protection on civil airliners. Already moves are underway in the USA to require the fitting of countermeasures systems on airliners; other countries could follow. The technology is already in widespread use on military aircraft and at least one business jet manufacturer now offers its aircraft complete with a missile protection system. But how effective are these devices against the latest generation shoulder-launched missiles - and how many of these are in, or could potentially enter, terrorist hands? Are the latest infrared countermeasures completely safe and what are the legal issues surrounding their use for airlines? What is the political background and what are the financial implications for the industry? All these questions and more will be addressed in this important, one-day Flight International conference, the first to specifically address this vital new threat to airline security. hlights include: How the political battle will take shape in the US and the knock-on effect in other regions Lessons learned from countermeasures use worldwide; safety and operational issues What weapons are in terrorists' hands and what is the real threat to aviation? Israel's experience: how anti-missile protection has been implemented The legal issues surrounding countermeasures Who should Airline executives responsible for security and safety Airline financial directors Airline operations managers Airline pilots Business jet manufacturers Civil aircraft manufacturers Lobbyists and consultants Political representatives Specialist vendors Business jet operators For further information on attending, exhibiting or sponsoring this event please contact Sallie Edwards by email: sallie.edwards@rbi.co.uk If you are in the USA, please call toll free 866-281 -1801 or fax toll free 866-281 -1802.
