It employs 4500 civilian and military personnel across four sites and is the largest business of its kind in Europe. Position: A vacancy now exists for a fast-jet navigator at DARA St Athan near Cardiff. We are looking for an experienced navigator who can work within a small, self-sufficient team responsible for pre and post-maintenance airtesting of a variety of fast-jet aircraft serviced by the DARA. In addition, this team is responsible for planning and crewing these aircraft to and from our customer airfields around the UK. The post holder will be required to undertake a a range of navigator duties including pre-collection assessment, flight test, comprehensive debriefing to engineering staff, and subsequent delivery. The role is directed primarily toward the Tornado but will also include occasional sorties in 2-seat variants of single-seat aircraft as well as Hawk. Candidate: You must have excellent communications skills and considerable flying experience in the fast-jet environment. The successful candidate should, ideally, have extensive Tornado experience, and knowledge of front-line requirements and modern technologies. The successful candidate must be medically fit to fly and produce a flying log book to prove flying experience as well as current medical status, otherwise applicants will be required to pass a full medical examination before appointment. Periodic medicals will be undertaken and must be passed in accordance with MOD standards for aircrew. The successful candidate will be appointed solely to the post. To enable transfer to a different post at the same grade within the MoD, Assessment and Development Centre (A&DC) accreditation must be achieved during the time in post; this is an internal assessment designed to confirm appointment for wider deployment. This is a permanent non-reserved post open to UK Nationals, Commonwealth citizens and EEA nationals of other Member States and certain members of their families who are non-EEA nationals.
