Without the prospect of a safe landing, this whole flying thing might never lave taken off. > esteemed brothers were intelligent men. They knew before they took flight 100 years ago that getting back down to earth was a major consideration. And that some sort of undercarriage arrangement was in order. Landing gear design has come a long way since then. Not least because of Georges Messier and Sir George Dowty, who set up shop some 75 years ago. Since then, it's been our privilege to be involved in the design and manufacture of thousands of aircraft of all shapes and sizes. Somewhere along the way we have become the world's leading landing gear company. With the Wright brothers, the aviation industry took off. And thanks to Messrs. Messier and Dowty, it is able to land.
