Eurofly relies on ten aircraft types, five dozen pilots and technicians, and only one training provider." CAPTAIN PAOLO POLINI, Flight Operations Manager, Eurofly Service S.p.A., Turin Paolo Polini read aviation magazines in high school and dreamed of flying. He joined the Italian Air Force and became an F-104 Starfighter pilot, serving for five years. Next Polini flew briefly for the Italian state airline before joining Fiat's corporate flight department, which later merged with Eurofly Service. Now, as Turin-based Flight Operations Manager, Captain Polini supervises a large staff of pilots and maintenance technicians operating and maintaining ten aircraft types. In addition to his management responsibilities, Polini maintains ratings in the Falcon 900EX and Falcon 2000. He has trained with FlightSafety since 1979. EUROFLY SERVICE'S CAPTAIN PAOLO POLINI HAS A lot to keep him busy. As the Turin-based charter com pany's Manager of Flight Operations, he is responsi ble for ten different aircraft types at four Italian bases, as well as a staff of more than 35 pilots and 19 technicians. "The challenge is standardization, ensuring that all pilots on several aircraft types will operate in a uniform way," says Polini. "The only way for us to achieve and maintain a high standard of excellence across the entire fleet is through FlightSafety training." To fly and maintain this diverse fleet - including various models of Falcon, Learjet, Challenger, and Raytheon aircraft - Eurofly Service pilots and technicians train regularly with FlightSafety, whether in Europe at the Paris/Le Bourget Learning Center, or in the U.S., primarily at Dallas, Wichita, and Tucson. "FlightSafety also provides excellent enrichmenl courses such as RVSM and MNPS," Polini says. "And they are good about tailoring our training programs for specific operational needs - like the special procedures required for steep landings into London City Airport. "Whatever their reason for going, our staff returns from training better-prepared - as individuals, and as a team," Polini says. "And in my job, that's very reassuring." wwtwjlrghtsafetycom FlightSafety. ** international The Leading Provider of JAA- and FAA-Approved Training.
