If you have a website, you need to include dynamic content - useful, interesting content which is updated every day. Now we have made it easy to include the latest news stories and jobs (or either) from Flightglobal in your own website, using an RSS ‘widget’. It’s free, it’s safe and it should keep people coming back to your site.
What is a widget?
Note that the headlines and jobs are updated automatically: they always refer to the latest stories.
What does the widget do?
The widget ‘reads’ an RSS feed from Flightglobal, which lists all the latest news stories and jobs on our website. It then displays the title and an excerpt from each story, which links directly to that story.
Flightglobal is constant updated with new stories and jobs, so there is almost always something new to see.
Once the widget is in place, there is no need to update anything – that’s our job! The widget will simply display fresh stories as they come in.
What’s in it for me?
Because the content of the widget is changing so frequently, it gives visitors to your website something new to look at every day – so they might visit more often, and stay longer when they do. More visitor traffic means more awareness of your website and your brand.
How do I get the widget code?
Simply email us webmaster@flightglobal.com and we'll create the best widget for your site and send you the code to embed.
How do I insert it into my site?
This is a job for a professional – or a talented amateur. The widget code can be inserted anywhere on an HTML page (that is, on more or less any website). Just make sure that you have the previous code backed up safely, and can restore the original version of your site.
Technical note: the widget relies on some Javascript code; if the visitor looking at the widget has Javascript turned off (or it is not installed at all) there is a fail-safe: the widget will display static links to our news pages rather than the latest news stories.
What if the widget isn’t right for my site?
You can customise the widget to a certain extent, by changing the RSS feed it refers to, altering the number of stories it shows or altering the length of each excerpt. Just email us at webmaster@flightglobal.com to find out how.
We are working on a series of standard widgets of different shapes and sizes, to suit different web pages, and we may be able to tailor a widget to your needs. Again, just email us at webmaster@flightglobal.com.
