Q: How can I suggest a new topic?
A: Simply email us with your suggestion. Remember that to our general topics are made up of sub-topics and that all sub-topics need archive content to link to. So it would be helpful if your topic suggestions included a few of those as well.
E.g. General topic - War and defence >> Sub-topic – World War II >> Archive content – Machines of the Luftwaffe
Q: But 1909-2005 doesn’t span 100 years!
A: Ah yes – but the last four years are of course available through Flightglobal. Simply search using the search box in the page header.
In addition we will be adding the latest four years’ worth of magazine pdfs shortly so please bare with us.
Q: I still haven't found what I'm looking for?
A: At the moment you can browse by year, or enter a keyword/s within a year-to-year date range, such as "Apollo" during 1961-1975.
Soon we'll be expanding that search to allow you to search between two specific dates in history. Eg. "Apollo 11" during 19 June 1969-19 June 1969.
Q: Can I use content from the archive on my blog/website/e-newsletter?
A: In a word, yes. We’ve scanned and uploaded this unique record of aviation history with intention of providing an open-access resource for everyone interested in aviation.
The only exception would be if the Flight Archive were being exploited for obvious commercial benefit, in which case we retain the right to refuse the reuse of archive material by any third party.
Q: Are there any issues/pages missing?
A: Yes. Unfortunately there are some holes in the archive. For example, the conspiracy theorists among you will be interested to know that the issue published after 11 September 2001 is missing. There are some others as well such as the last couple of months of 1970. We're still auditing the entire archive for gaps such as these so if you find any then please let us know.
