All Nippon Airways (ANA) president and chief executive Shinichiro Ito will take on a new role as chairman of the Japanese airline, following a restructuring of its corporate structure.

ANA senior executive vice-president Osamu Shinobe will succeed Ito as president and chief executive of the airline.

The reshuffle comes as the airline's parent, ANA Group, restructures into a new holding company structure, effective 1 April.

Ito has since April 2009 served as president and chief executive of ANA Group. He will retain both roles in the newly created parent, ANA Holdings.

The airline's outgoing chairman, Yoji Ohashi, will become chairman of ANA Holdings.
